Become the diver everyone relies on. Our Underwater Navigation Specialty Course equips you with the skills to confidently lead dives, tackle complex routes, and always find your way back—without guessing.

What You’ll Learn

• Fine-tune your observation skills and learn to navigate using both compass headings and underwater clues like reef formations, slopes, and currents. 
• Use kick cycles, time, and environmental cues to estimate underwater distances with precision. 
• Practice structured navigation patterns  — such as squares, rectangles, or triangles— and chart your ride with underwater map-making which has multiple use cases in future for search and recovery and underwater investigations
• Learn to mark submerged objects and find your way back to them, even from the surface or from memory. 

What to expect:

• Knowledge Development
  Complete self-paced learning modules covering theory, compasses, and navigation techniques — guided PADI e-learning. 

• Three Open Water Dives
  Put theory into action through hands-on practice. During these dives, you'll:

  • Estimate underwater distances
  • Navigate multi-leg compass courses
  • Map dive routes and practice relocations
    

• Certification Awarded
  Upon completion, proudly add the PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty to your diver certifications—counting toward your Master Scuba Diver rating. 

Who Should Enroll?

• Open Water Divers (or Junior OW Divers)
• Minimum age: 10 years
• Basic scuba gear required—plus a compass and slate; most equipment can be rented on-site.
