Curcumin is a naturally occurring biologically active group of compounds from turmeric. Traditionally, Herbal Medicine has used turmeric as an anti-inflammatory to help relieve joint pain. Researchers believe curcumin's mechanism of action is likely mediated through its ability to inhibit enzymes involved in the body's inflammatory response - including cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase (LOX) - and induce nitric oxide synthase. Curcumin also inhibits inflammatory mediators, including thromboxanes and leukotrienes, and affects intracellular signaling cascades involving NF-κB and mitogen-activated protein kinases to further support joint comfort. Neurophenol™ provides flavonoids from standardized extracts of blueberry and grape, such as anthocyanidins, monomers, dimmers and oligomers, to provide antioxidant support.
