Moszkowski, Moritz (1854-1925)
Description:
Moszkowski was a Polish pianist and composer. He studied piano with Eduard Frank and composition with Friedrich Kiel in Berlin, and achieved his first success as a pianist in 1873. Many of his works are piano pieces. Many of his works are piano pieces, such as the "Fifteen Exercises," which are often studied by piano students as a prelude to Chopin's exercises, as well as small pieces for salon use. Master pianist Ian Hobson has begun recording all of Moszkowski's piano works. In this first collection, he performs his early works, introducing technical and romantic pieces that show the influence of Mendelssohn and Schumann. Most of the pieces, full of beautiful melodies, are world premiere recordings. A sequel to the album can be expected. Naxos Japan
