The 20th century's master conductor Walter conducted Dvorak in his final years. The "No. 8" in particular was recorded during the last of a series of recording sessions with the Columbia Symphony Orchestra between January and March of 1961. However, the powerful music in these performances is so lively and full of vitality that one does not feel this background at all, and they are masterpieces from Walther's last years.
