Description:

The latest Game Boy Advance Laminated Display from Hispeedido offers an improved resolution closer to the original, resulting in an improved appearance compared to the 480 x 320 display.

The screen has touch sensors already build in, which control the features such as brightness and pixel modes options.

Fitting this IPS screen kit is simplified thanks to the integrated design, there is no PCBS to attach, no touch sensors to solder, and no screen lens to align, it is compatible with both 32 and 40 in variants of GBA console.

A drop in experience is possible if you purchase the IPS ready laminated compatible shell from Hispeedido.

If you have a shell you wish to cut, you will need to remove some of inner screen surround and shave down one side to be thinner, see the pictures for more guidance.

The IPS screen includes the LCD panel with laminated screen lens and ribbon cable to connect it to the mainboard. Three pieces of hookup wire are also included for optional soldering, which adds the on screen menu (OSD) functionality. All of the features found in the OSD are controllable using the touch pads, so the no solder option still provides the same pixel modes etc as when the optional wires are fitted.

The screen upgrade supports 15 levels of brightness, 8 different colour modes and 4 display modes, default display mode, retro pixel effect and 2 scan line effects.

As with any IPS screen upgrade, it is recommended to use good quality batteries such as Eneloop or Ladda, or alternatively fit a Lipo battery mod, this is due to the higher power requirements for IPS screens.

NOTE: You should bench test the screen before installation to check for any issues, this helps us to support your warranty, you should leave the adhesive backing and protective film on the product until you are satisfied it is working correctly and there are no pixel faults etc, if you discover any faults please send a picture of the bench test to [email protected] for assistance.

Installing with soldering is optional (3 wires in total), if fitted this will allow brightness control from the original brightness button and provide access to an OSD menu.

Other items needed which are not included:  A IPS ready shell compatible with the laminated Hispeedido kit (or tools to cut an original / 3rd party shell), basic tools to open the game boy and fit this screen, soldering iron (optional), non of these items are included.

Please note that the LCD screen and ribbon cable require care to install and are fragile in nature, they are also more susceptible to damage once installed if the console is dropped, LCD screens can crack under pressure or with a impact, our warranty does not cover accidental / user damage of any components in this kit. Replacement parts will be available to purchase separately in the near future.
