Manchester's popular jazz trio Mammal Hands, representing a new generation of UK jazz, has completed their long-awaited new album "Shadow Work", their third following their smash hit album "Floor". Their new sound has been further refined and scaled up while playing at jazz festivals around the world, and is now even more refined and scaled up! Mamal Hands, the next breakout jazz trio, has completed their third album "Shadow Work", a year after their last album "Floa", which was the best-selling imported jazz CD of 2016 at Tower Records' Shibuya and Shinjuku stores. Their sound is a minimal jazz sound played by a baseless trio of piano, drums, and saxophone.Black Sails" draws you in with its beautiful saxophone improvisation drifting through minimal, repetitive chords; "Boreal Frost" gradually builds from a small looping theme into an epic soundscape; "Solitary Bee" is inspired by contemporary Irish folk; "Three Good Things" is heavy and melodic, featuring a tabla; "Living Frost" is the last track, which combines Nick's beautiful piano solo parts with field recordings. The essence of various genres, from Steve Reich to Aphex Twin, from African music to Irish folk, which they say are their influences, are filtered through their filter to create a new jazz sound that could be described as post-rock.
