Yotam Silberstein, Carlos Aguirre
Description:
Carlos Aguirre, one of the leading artists of contemporary Argentinean music, and Yotam Silverstein, a leading figure in the Israeli jazz guitar world. This duo album is filled with the mellow sounds of a dialogue between the two, which is exchanged in a compassionate tone. Composer/pianist/SSW Carlos Aguirre has entered a new phase of activity since his 2019 album La Musica del Agua (Water Music), which was the culmination of his exploration of folklore along the La Plata River in Argentina, where his roots are. Yotam Silverstein is an Israeli-born guitarist currently based in New York City who pursues his own style, deeply influenced not only by straight jazz but also by South American and Arabic music. The two have been in constant contact, including a cover of Aguirre's "Milonga Gris" on Yotam's 2016 album "The Village," and finally completed an album that they began working on in 2018, after a lockdown by Corona. The eight pieces, half of which are his own compositions, are a natural and mellow fusion of Aguirre's unique compositions that combine traditional music with contemporary classical and jazz at a high level, and Yotam's fluid and versatile phrasing and floating tone. This first Japanese release comes in a luxurious package that includes a 3-sided digipak and a 12-page full-color booklet, all adorned with beautiful photographs taken by Aguirre.
