Jordan Marsh & Co.'s Spring and Summer Catalogue, 1883 (running title). Quarto, pictorial wraps, 132pp. Chipping to wrapper edges and puncture affecting through page 7, loss primarily limited to the upper rule. Rare catalogue for the iconic Boston-based "Jordan Marsh & Company," which began in 1841 as a dry goods store and evolved into the nation's first "departmentalized" store. Profusely illustrated, including many white products (collars, laces, etc) set against flat black backgrounds to great graphic effect. Despite the damage, an excellent example of ready-to-wear fashions from the period, the accoutrements of undergarments and a few odds and ends, like pocket knives and books, too. No copies in OCLC.
