In early December 2023, Qantas unveiled this Christmas-themed aircraft, giving it a local twist, replacing the reindeer with kangaroos. The Dash-8 was fittingly renamed “Dasher-8”, in reference to the one of the reindeers pulling Santa’s sleigh in the popular Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer Christmas song. On its first flight from Brisbane, passengers were welcomed by Santa himself at the gate, surely creating a festive mood while boarding the aircraft. Dasher-8 is being released as a limited edition in both the 1/500 and 1/200 scales.
