Matthew-Walker, Robert (1939-)
Description:
A collection of piano works by Robert Matthew-Walker, a prominent figure in the British classical music industry. Matthew-Walker was born in London in 1939 and studied music there. After a period of military service, he studied composition in Paris with Darius Milhaud in 1962-63, composed as an amateur, and worked as a publisher before joining CBS Records in 1970 in a key marketing position. Matthew Walker wrote a considerable amount of music, including six symphonies, before and after his busy 1970s in the record industry, and the works on this album are from 1978 onward. His style is far from avant-garde, and his skillful descriptions of images that come to mind when you listen to them are very appealing. Naxos Japan
