Lydia Bailey (1779-1869) was a prominent American printer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during the 19th century. She took over her husband's failing printing business after he died in 1808, needing to support her four children. She rescued the business and successfully managed it for over 50 years. Bailey was known for her efficiency, high-quality work, and ability to adapt to the changing printing technologies of her time. She became the first woman to be appointed as the official city printer of Philadelphia.
