Mighty Oaks
Description:
Born in Switzerland and later moved to Brazil. He taught at the Federal University of Bahia, where he taught Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Ton Sze, and the Uacchi. The two extremely rare recordings by Valter Smetaki, a musician and instrument maker who had a great influence on the Tropicália and other psychedelic movements as well as Brazilian experimental music, will be reissued at the same time. This is his second album, released in 1980, and is a further development of his previous work. The interplay between Smetaki's oddly tuned micro-guitar on "Espelhos" and Carlos Pita's Yamaha electric organ on "Freak Out" is particularly intense. As with the original, the album has been remastered and includes a booklet with catalog photos of the instruments used. Limited pressing of 500 copies.MIGHTY OAKS is a Berlin-based indie-folk trio consisting of Ian Hooper from the U.S., Claudio Donzelli from Italy, and Craig Saunders from the U.K. They released their debut EP "DRIFTWOOD SEAT" in 2012. After releasing their debut EP "DRIFTWOOD SEAT" in 2012 and gaining attention on Soundcloud, they have gradually spread their presence around Europe by performing and touring at festivals with LUMINEERS, FIRST AID KID, CHVRCHES, KINGS OF LEON, and others, and now they have completed their third album, "MIGHTY OAKS". They have now completed a new album, their third in total. Last year, they released "DROFTWOOD EP" and had a sold-out acoustic tour in Europe and were the opening act for LUMINEERS' European tour. Their latest album, ALL THINGS GO, captures how they have deepened and expanded their musicality since their second album, DREAMERS, released in 2017, by interacting with other artists and gaining experience from touring. The album's title track "All Things Go," "Lost Again," and "Tell Me What You Are Thinking" have already been released as singles. The theme of the album is the wish to "go back to that time" and "start over," while at the same time "overcoming past mistakes and moving forward. The three voices from three different countries play in harmony. Their gentle and clear acoustic sound transcends borders and genres, and is sure to reach a wide audience. With a headlining tour in Europe to coincide with the album release, "ALL THINGS GO" will be their first album to spread their wings around the world.
