This is a recording of a November 2020, audience-less, concert-style performance at the Donizetti Opera House in Bergamo, Donizetti's birthplace. Roberto Frontali sings the title role with great dignity, Carmela Remigio beautifully expresses Antonina's struggle with hatred and regret, Annalisa Stroppa impresses with her refined expression as the healthy Irene, and Celso Albero, a tenor with a brilliantly beautiful voice, plays Ramiro. The dramatic music, under the baton of Italian opera master Riccardo Frizza, well known to Japanese audiences for his many guest appearances at the New National Opera, responds beautifully to the singing of these singers.
