Boulez's memorial disc, a true hit! The apostle of avant-garde music in his element, the premiere members of the magnificent "Gruppen"! This is the third and most important memorial project for Pierre Boulez (1925-2016), following ALT-343 and ALT-345. Gruppen", a work synonymous with avant-garde music, and others, first performed live in Vienna in 1959! The Gruppen was premiered in 1958 by the Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Stockhausen, Maderna and Boulez. This disc is a live performance by the same ensemble only one year later. The three avant-garde composers and conductors are recorded as they conduct each other rigorously with a firm hand, and there is a tremendous sense of tension. It is a pity that this is a monaural recording (there were no stereo broadcasts at the time of composition), but as long as the recording exists, there is no reason not to listen to it.
