The first duo album by Enrico Rava, one of Italy's most famous trumpeters, and Fred Hirsch, a pianist whose lyrical playing is a mentor to Brad Meldor. Influenced by charismatic figures such as Chet Baker and Miles Davis, he moved in an avant-garde direction, playing with Gato Barbieri, Don Cherry, Mal Waldron, Steve Lacy, and, after moving to New York, with Roswell Rudd, Marion Ladd, Marion Taylor, and Carver. After moving to New York, he actively collaborated with other experimental musicians such as Roswell Ladd, Marion Brown, Cecil Taylor, and Carla Bley, and has collaborated with trumpeter Enrico Lava, whose poetic expression and lyrical and poignant sonorities stand out in his musical adventures, and with Brad Meldon, who says, "If I had not learned from Fred, I would not be playing piano now. Recorded in Lugano, Switzerland in November 2021, this is the first duo album by the American pianist Fred Hirsch, whose beautiful playing has captured the ears of many jazz fans.The album is an ambitious work that will please many jazz fans, tackling standards including the title tune by Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jerome Kern & Oscar Hammerstein II, Monk, as well as originals by Rava and Hirsch, and collaborations between the two.
