Description:
This album contains the "Koto Concerto" commissioned by LEO to London-based internationally active composer Dai Fujikura, which was scheduled to have its world premiere on April 30, 2021 at Suntory Hall with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yuto Suzuki, but due to the declaration of a state of emergency, it was unusually performed "without audience". The premiere was recorded in June of the same year in Japan. The premiere was broadcast on Nippon Television's "Yomiuri Kyokai Premiere" in June of the same year, and the fresh sound created by the fusion of Japanese instruments and orchestral music attracted much attention among music fans, and this is the first time the concerto has been made available on disc. In addition to the concerto, the album includes three koto solo pieces, "Ryu," "Tsuki," and "Shinza," composed by Fujikura. The collaboration between the two artists, an up-and-coming player and composer, has created a new possibility for the Japanese instrument.
