Description:
Greek national composer Skalkottas. New recording of his long and difficult "Piano Concerto No. 3" is now available! Studied composition under Euon, Weill, and Ooarnach, Nikos Skalkottas (1904-1949) developed a diverse style, including works that make full use of the 12-tone technique and works that incorporate Greek folk music, and firmly established himself as one of the leading Greek composers of the 20th century. Concerto No. 3"! Composed for solo piano, woodwinds and percussion, "Piano Concerto No. 3" is a difficult and complex piece, and its playing time is over 50 minutes. This is a work with a long history. The soloist for this long and difficult piece is the Belgian pianist Daan Van De Walle, who specializes in 20th and 21st century music by Jefsky, Ives, Mumma, and others. The fact that he is one of the few pianists in the world to have played through Sorabji's Opus Clavicembalisticum speaks volumes about his ability, as well as his knowledge of contemporary works.
