Goran Filipec
Description:
Paganini (1782-1840) is known for his superb virtuosity on the violin. His influence on later generations has been profound, and many contemporary composers, including Rachmaninoff, Busoni, Brahms, Lutoslawski, and Bracher, have written piano pieces based on Paganini themes, including Liszt's "Paganini Exercises," which are extremely difficult to play. The Croatian pianist Goran Filipec, who has made a name for himself by recording the complete version of Liszt's "Paganini Exercises" mentioned above, is a longtime student of Paganini's music. He has long been studying the works of composers who were inspired by Paganini's works. Here he performs Paganini transcriptions by Busoni, Friedman, and six others. Filipetz shows us the playful spirit hidden in the dazzling technique in a vivid way. Naxos Japan
