The P-CAN threads onto any respirator accepting standard STANAG 4155 (EN 148-1) Rd 40 x 1/7" threads — the most common interface on full-face gas masks sold worldwide. This covers the MIRA Safety CM-6M, CM-7M, and CM-I mask platforms, as well as the vast majority of 40 mm NATO-threaded civilian and military respirators.
The canister measures 111 mm (4.3 in) in diameter and 75 mm in height. Individual canisters are vacuum-sealed, black in color for straightforward inventory identification, and date-stamped on the label.
The P-CAN carries an A2SXP3 D R rating. The A2 designation covers organic gases and vapors; SX targets law-enforcement riot control agents including OC, CR, and CS; P3 is the highest European particulate efficiency class, capturing both sodium chloride (S) and paraffin oil (L) aerosols at greater than 99.999% efficiency at a 95 l/min flow rate — exceeding the EN 14387 minimum of 99.95%.
The activated carbon charge measures 250 cm³ — nearly three times the 90 cm³ found in most competing filters. That additional carbon volume translates directly into longer service life before breakthrough. At sustained exposure levels typical of crowd-control operations, the filter delivers more than 12 hours of continuous protection.
An embedded hydrophobic coating prevents water ingress during sustained heavy rainfall, so the filter functions reliably in rain, snow, and 100% relative humidity. Tested to perform at temperatures as low as -32°C, with rated high-temperature exposure up to 70°C (159°F). Humidity range is 5% to 100%. Salt-spray environments do not degrade the filter, though prolonged salt-breeze exposure limits service life to a 12–24 hour maximum for that session.
At a 30 l/min flow rate the P-CAN measures below 160 Pa — the EN 14387 requirement at that rate is 260 Pa. At the higher 95 l/min test rate the filter measures below 600 Pa against the standard's 980 Pa limit. Lower breathing resistance reduces fatigue during extended operational wear, which matters for officers maintaining communication and situational awareness over multi-hour deployments.
Store canisters unopened in their sealed plastic bags in a clean area at 23–86°F (-5 to +30°C) with relative humidity below 80%. The storage period is marked on each label by month and year. Do not attempt to regenerate a used filter. Never clean with compressed air or compressed water. Once opened and used, discard the filter — even brief mask removal during a deployment requires replacement before re-entering the area.
After use, remove from the respirator and dispose of as solid waste in accordance with current waste-treatment regulations applicable to the substances filtered. Consult local authority guidelines for disposal locations.
It fits any mask with a standard 40 mm NATO thread (STANAG 4155 / EN 148-1 Rd 40 x 1/7"). This covers the vast majority of full-face military and civilian respirators, including all MIRA Safety mask platforms. If your mask uses a different thread standard (e.g., 60 mm GOST), the P-CAN is not compatible — contact us to confirm fitment before ordering.
There is no fixed time limit after opening. Service life depends on contaminant concentration, atmospheric conditions, and breathing rate. The practical indicator is increased breathing resistance — when the filter becomes noticeably harder to breathe through, replace it. If you remove the mask at any point during active exposure, discard the filter immediately and install a fresh canister before re-entering.
