Povidone Iodine is an iodophore in which iodine is bound to the carrier molecule, povidone. The complex (Povidone Iodine) slowly liberates inorganic iodine when in contact with skin and mucous membranes. Only a small amount of iodine is released at any one time, giving Povidone Iodine a lower irritant potential and longer duration of microbiacidal action than conventional iodine solutions. It is bactericidal, fungicidal, sporicidal and virucidal. 

When applied to skin, Septidin 10% forms a brown-coloured film which indicates that activity is present. The film does not stain fabric and can be splashed of with water. 

Product Features and Benefits:

• Antiseptic against bacteria, fungi, viruses, protozoa, cysts and spores. 
• For minor burns, wounds and on pre-operative preparation of the skin. 

Directions For Use:

• Use full strength. Do not dilute.
• (a) For pre-operative preparation of the skin:
  - Wet the operation site with water.
  - Apply Septidin 10%, work up a lather using sterile gauze. 
  - Scrub site for 5 minutes, rinse off with water using wet sterile gauze. 
  - Paint the surgical site with Septidin 10% using sterile gauze and permit to air dry.
• (b) Minor burns, wounds and skin infections:
  - Apply twice daily to affected area with clean gauze or cotton bud. 

Cautions:

• Local irritation or hypersensitivity reactions may occur. Discontinue use immediately if symptoms develop. 
• Store below 30ºC. Protect from light. 
• Keep out of reach of children.
