You’re repairing a delicate instrument, mounting a small hinge, or assembling a miniature model – and you need tiny, reliable screws that sit perfectly flush. These M1 through M6 countersunk machine screws are made from carbon steel with a choice of black zinc or nickel plating. The flat head sinks flush into a pre‑drilled countersink, leaving a smooth surface. The cross recess works with both Phillips and Pozidriv drivers, giving you a secure grip. Available in diameters from tiny M1 up to M6, with lengths measured overall (including head). Fully threaded for maximum grip in shallow holes. Perfect for electronics, eyewear, model making, furniture, and precision equipment where a professional flush finish matters.

| Finish | Appearance | Corrosion Resistance | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black zinc plating | Matte black, low glare | Moderate – indoor use, light moisture | Electronics, model making, automotive interior, visible assemblies |
| Nickel plating | Bright silver, shiny | Good – slightly better than black zinc | Decorative hardware, furniture, appliances, vintage restoration |
1. How do I measure the length of these countersunk screws?
For countersunk flat head screws (DIN 965), the length is measured overall – from the very top of the head to the tip. So an “M3 x 10mm” screw has a total length of 10mm including the head. This is standard for countersunk fasteners. If you need a screw with a 10mm threaded portion under the head, choose a longer overall length (e.g., M3 x 12mm overall).
2. Do I need to countersink the hole for these screws to sit flush?
Yes – these are true countersunk screws with a 90° cone head. To achieve a flush or slightly recessed finish, you must drill a matching 90° countersink hole. Use a countersink bit slightly larger than the screw head. In soft plastic or wood, you can gently tap the head in, but proper countersinking gives a professional result.
3. Are these screws compatible with both Phillips and Pozidriv drivers?
Yes – the cross recess is designed to work with both. However, for the best fit and to avoid cam‑out, a Pozidriv bit provides a slightly tighter engagement. A standard Phillips driver will also work well for most applications. Use the correct size (e.g., #0 for M1–M2, #1 for M2.5–M4, #2 for M5–M6).
4. Will the plating rust? Can I use these screws outdoors?
Both black zinc and nickel plating provide moderate corrosion resistance suitable for indoor use and light humidity (kitchens, basements, workshops). For outdoor use or continuous moisture exposure, we recommend stainless steel. These plated carbon steel screws are best for indoor electronics, furniture, and model making.
5. Are these screws fully threaded?
Yes – all screws in this range (M1 to M6) are fully threaded from under the head to the tip. This gives you maximum grip even in shallow holes. Longer lengths (e.g., M6 x 60mm) are also fully threaded unless noted otherwise.
6. What is DIN 965? Why is it important?
DIN 965 is the German standard for countersunk flat head screws with cross recess (Phillips/Pozidriv). It specifies exact head angles, recess depths, and thread tolerances. Screws made to this standard are consistent and interchangeable – so you get a reliable fit every time.
