This 2025 release of the Michter’s US-1 Toasted Barrel Finish Sour Mash marks the third overall bottling of this unique expression, first introduced in 2019. The whiskey begins as Michter’s US-1 Sour Mash—a distillate matured in new charred American oak barrels—then undergoes a secondary finishing period in custom-made toasted (but un-charred) oak barrels made from staves that were air-dried for at least 18 months. The toasting process is designed to accentuate richer nuances of honey, spice, citrus, and smoky butter-pecan in the final product. The whiskey is bottled at 43% ABV (86 proof).

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Gentle camp-fire smoke leading into honeyed vanilla, warm baked apples and subtle citrus peel.

• Palate: Smooth and layered with butter-pecan sweetness, toasted oak spice, dried cherries and a whisper of orange zest.

• Finish: Softly warming with lingering notes of toasted wood, honeyed cereal and light baking spice.
