Description:
English composer Havergal Bryan is known for his "Symphony No. 1," considered the largest and longest symphony ever written. Dedicated to the beloved Richard Strauss, this piece in six movements was so difficult to perform that it was not premiered until 33 years after it was completed in 1927. However, it was not until after he finished this piece that Brian's true value was demonstrated. In the 40 years until his death in 1968, four years before his death, he had written a total of 32 symphonies. This album contains three of his symphonies, including "No. 26," which is a world premiere recording. The overflowing melody of No. 8, written in a single movement, the impressive No. 21 with its solemn adagio movement, and No. 26, which sublimates anguish into triumph with explosive energy. All are interesting music that opens the door to an unknown world. Naxos Japan
