ONION LEEKS are closely related to onions, garlic, and chives. They have a mild, sweet flavor and are often used in soups, stews, and other dishes where a subtle onion-like taste is desired

Cooking Tips:

1. Preparation: Trim the root end and the dark green tops, leaving the white and light green parts. Slice them lengthwise and rinse thoroughly to remove any dirt trapped between the layers.
2. Cooking Methods:
   • Sautéing: Sauté sliced leeks with onions in olive oil or butter until they are soft and slightly caramelized. This makes a great base for soups or a side dish.
   • Soups: Leeks are a key ingredient in classic soups like potato leek soup or French onion and leek soup
   • Roasting: Roast leeks with a bit of olive oil, salt, and pepper for a delicious side dish.

Recipe Suggestion:

Sautéed Leeks with Onions:

• Ingredients: 2 leeks (sliced), 1 medium white onion (diced), ¾ teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon olive oil, pine nuts (optional for garnish).
• Method: Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions and cook until translucent. Add the leeks and salt, and sauté until soft and slightly caramelized. Garnish with pine nuts if desired.
