Description:

This is a sequel to the previously released "Music of Kazakhstan" (CDX21501). The previous album consisted of string quartet arrangements of works by unknown composers who have made the history of Kazakhstan's music, but this album goes a step further by placing the original forms of the works alongside the arranged versions and allowing the listener to enjoy the differences between them. The album also features such unfamiliar instruments as the "Kobuz," which is played between the legs like a viola da gamba, and the "Dombra," which resembles a two-stringed lute, and their tones are also intriguing.
