"It had such a pretty aroma, loads of soft sweet cherry fruit with a mellow aniseed aroma coming off, and then warmed redcurrant jelly. The palate has a little fuzzy tannin at the start, then more of the cherry, some plum skin and a chocolate and jasmine emerging and a little smoke on the finish."
Cantine di Marzo has been in the same family ownership since 1647, since Scipione di Marzo left his home of San Paolo Belsito and settled in Tufo. His family became one of the major land owners in the region, with the family making money in the brimstone business. They have always made wine however, and more recently have become the leading producer of the white grape Greco.
