Description:
Jia Dakang is one of China's leading world-renowned composers; as of 2018, she is Professor of Composition and Music Theory at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she continues to develop and promote contemporary Chinese music. She has published a wide variety of orchestral and chamber works, which have been performed at many music festivals around the world and have gained widespread popularity. The pieces on this album, all of which are for percussion, actively use traditional Chinese instruments, creating a "fusion of the West and the East. Among them, "Mute Song," composed in 1997 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and China, uses exactly 25 instruments and stands out for its originality and innovative tone.
