Baroque Boreal
Description:
Dorothe Engelbretsdatter, Dorothe (1634-1716), Norwegian writer of baroque boreals, was born into a religious family in Bergen. Her works are mainly hymns and poems with a strong religious flavor. Her work is said to have been little neglected, despite being part of Norway's cultural heritage. The Baroque Boreal album "Songs of Death and Joy" features 12 songs, including one from the book "Siaelens Sang-Offer" published in Copenhagen in 1678. The project was based on the ideas and research of Catheine Bothner-By and Oyonn Groven Myren, and was recorded at the organ house (Eivind Grovens Orgelhus) built next to composer Eivind Groven's home. The recording was made at Eivind Grovens Orgelhus, an organ house built next to the composer's house. The booklet includes liner notes and lyrics in Norwegian bookmor (no English translation).
