Designed in 1962 by Belgian architect and designer Roger De Winter (1923-2001), the RDW01 Chaise Longue was originally created as an exclusive piece, offered only to a select group of private clients. As a result, only a handful of original examples were ever produced, making the design a rare and remarkable part of Belgian design history.

More than six decades later, Roger De Winter’s grandson, Jan De Winter, has carefully reintroduced this iconic concept for contemporary living. Respecting the spirit of the original design, the chaise longue was thoughtfully refined using modern production techniques, updated materials and extensive technical research based on Roger De Winter’s original drawings and prototype. Today, the Chaise Longue is available to view, test and purchase at our showroom on Volkstraat 58 in Antwerp.

The RDW01 is defined by its elegant balance between form and function. Its sculptural silhouette combines a precisely curved chrome-plated steel frame with polished aluminium slats that beautifully contrast with the soft leather cushion. The adjustable reclining position and ergonomic design provide exceptional comfort, while handcrafted welding details highlight the attention to craftsmanship throughout the piece.

Each chaise longue is handmade in Belgium using premium materials. The generously padded cushion is upholstered in high-quality leather supplied by Belgian partner Stolz, known for combining exceptional softness and durability with responsible sourcing and traceability. Every detail, from the carefully tailored leather to the adjustable neck roll, contributes to a refined seating experience designed for lasting comfort.
