A primitive "multiple dibble" used for hand-seeding, painted with a distinction of orange and blue that is reflected on the painted handle, presumably relating to a system employed by the farmer.

Mid-19th century American farm tool, 15.5 x 10 inches. Height measures 3.5 inches from the tray base to the end of the spikes, with the handle protruding an extra 2.5 inches. 6 x 9 grid of wooden pegs with hand-carved tips set into a drilled tray, backed with two planks in a make-do fashion, with an aesthetic carved handle attached. Lacking 5 pegs, moderate overall soil and wear. The object is untouched/unrestored to preserve the finish. The blue paint, in particular, has wonderful crackeleur but is delicate. Pencil grid markings, old nails, and other beautiful evidence of its making render it a worthy art object. Cheaper than a Rauschenberg.
