The advanced technique she learned on the classical saxophone at music college and the jazzy and swinging sense of rhythm she cultivated in the big band are beautifully integrated in this album. Five of the nine songs on this album are his own original compositions. The standard numbers "Bye ByeBlackbird" and "Oleo" are filled with a variety of royalty and unexpectedness, and show that the band has an abundance of musical imagery. The standout track is the original number "Before The Dawn. The phrase "Before The Dawn" comes to you with a bang at the beginning of the song, reminding you of the beginning of an exciting day, just as the song title suggests. Another original song, "Starry Night," is a slow, three-beat ballad. Although composed in a narrow range of notes, this ballad number does not feel monotonous at all, but rather is a crisp and lively song. The album is rich in variety, with each of the five original songs and four standard songs having their own characteristics.
