Description:
The Spanish composer Soler was an extraordinary man who, after being ordained as a priest at the age of 23, served at the Escorial monastery near Madrid, devoting most of his days to farming and prayer, a lifestyle he continued for 31 years until his death. It is truly a miracle that he left more than 500 pieces of music in between those 31 years. His light-hearted works, which reflect the influence of his teacher, Scarlatti, as well as the Viennese style, are said to have been written for Don Gabriel, prince of King Carlos III. The piece is performed by Anne Soujon, winner of the piano section of the 2012 Maria Canals International Competition. Her beautiful touch enhances the charm of the piece. Naxos Japan
