In the shakuhachi world of the 20th century, shakuhachi that can be easily adapted to various types of music and that have been prepared by applying "ji", a paint used for shaping the inside of the tube, at the stage of instrument production have been highly regarded as instrumental shakuhachi. On the other hand, the shakuhachi without "ji," which is made without applying "ji" and by utilizing the shape of bamboo, a natural material, as it is, inevitably has large individual differences in playing characteristics and is required to have great compatibility with the music to be played. Shakuhachi researcher and shakuhachi player Tetsu Shimura performs three classical pieces and three pieces composed by Yuji Takahashi for this instrument with five jinashi shakuhachi. Kojima Recording
