Description:
Anton Rubinshtein, a native of Russia, was as renowned as Franz Liszt as a pianist and wrote numerous piano pieces, including concertos, and made a name for himself around the world as a popular composer. Despite his great contribution to Russian music, his conservative style, which was in the vein of German Romanticism, was not accepted by the "Russian Five," who were at the height of their popularity at the time, and his works, which caused controversy, were gradually forgotten. In recent years, however, his works have been reevaluated and more and more symphonies and songs have been recorded. This album focuses on the "Six Preludes," dedicated to Clara Schumann, and the dynamic "Six Exercises," which show Rubinshtein's high technique and musicality, as well as the size of his own hands. And the "Ondine" exercise is his first published work, and the C major exercise is a world premiere recording. Naxos Japan
