Our Oklahoma roundel design is inspired by Oklahoma's first flag, adopted in 1911. Taking the colors red, white, and blue from the U.S. flag, the original Oklahoma flag featured a large centered white star outlined in blue on a red field. The number 46 stood for Oklahoma as the forty-sixth state to join the Union. Simple...but effective!

 

The original flag design would last until 1925 when red flags were thought to be associated with communism(!).
