The Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments Collection Series Vol. 23, which explores the appeal of the clavichord, an instrument that has been close to the souls of musicians throughout its long history, features sonata works by major composers played on a clavichord made in 1788 by Lindholm, a master craftsman in Stockholm. With a history as old as that of the organ, this keyboard instrument with its extremely simple mechanism has always been close to the soul of each musician in a quiet private space. In this album, Tomoko Miyamoto, who has introduced many clavichords to Japan since the 1980s, approaches her performance with the utmost delicacy and explores the surprising richness of this instrument.
