Ysaye (1858-1931)
Description:
Violin Concerto by Eugène Ysaÿe, World Premiere Recording! Belgian violinist, conductor, and composer Eugène Ysaÿe. Called "the king of the violin" by Nathan Mirshteyn, Ysaÿe's playing has influenced generations of musicians. As a composer, he left behind many works for violin, all of which are highly musical and in his own style of superb technique, but not all of them are well known, perhaps because they are so difficult to perform. This album contains works for violin and piano written between 1885 and 1924, as well as the "Violin Concerto in A minor," the orchestral part of which was recently added by the Romanian composer Sabin Pauza. With the exception of the "Romantic Little Fantasy," this is the world premiere recording. The concerto will be performed by Shervan Lupu, who is based in Romania. His recordings of Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst and Enescu for the TOCCATA CLASSICS label are highly acclaimed. Naxos Japan
