Description:
"Maurice Steger, the "Paganini of the Recorder World," has made his long-awaited new recording of Handel's "Paganini of the Recorder World." Maurice Steger is the "Paganini of the recorder world". Steger's previous discs have astonished audiences around the world not only with the brilliance of his playing, but also with the wonder of his programming, and this time he takes up Handel's "Mr. Handel's". This disc, entitled "Mr. Handel's dinner," is a collection of music from the sumptuous dinner parties that were held between the acts of Handel's operas. At that time, Handel was always surrounded by some of the best musicians in London and popular composers from various countries who came to visit him from abroad. The lively and colorful dinner room comes to mind. The Recorder Concerto (1) is a combination of the Sonata for Recorder and Bass Bass (HWV 369) and the Organ Concerto in F major opus 4-5 (HWV 293), which Handel had made into an organ concerto based on the Sonata.Other pieces include a "suite" of dances from various pieces, as Handel himself did at the time ((2)), and a piece that Handel himself also composed for use as a basso continuo ((5)). The Passacaglia in (6) was originally a ballet piece performed at the end of the third act of the opera "Radamiste" (premiered in 1720), and was also the third movement of the Trio Sonata, op. 5-4, published around 1737/38. Among the copy scores of this piece from that time, a score for four voices (with the addition of the viola) has been found, which is a fairly faithful arrangement of the original operatic music. The C minor trio in (8) is the first arrangement of a movement of music from Handel's early London opera. Other works by Finger, a native of Moravia and probably Handel's predecessor in London, Babel, who is said to be one of Handel's few compositional disciples, and Geminiani, who was two years younger than Handel and a friend, are all over the place. Steger was born in 1971 in Winteral, Switzerland. He studied with Padro Memesdorff and Case Bucke at the Zurich University of Music and with Markus Reed in Stuttgart, and his distinguished career includes the "With Highest Honors" soloist diploma in 1995 and the Karajan Prize in 2002. He has performed at the Wigmore Hall, the Gewandhaus, and the Concertgebouw, as well as with the Berlin Academy of Ancient Music and other ancient music ensembles and modern orchestras. She has also performed in Japan, captivating audiences with her skill and the power of her performance, running across the stage in all directions. He has released CDs with historically interesting programming, such as the disc entitled "Folia in Naples - 1725" (HMC902135), which features music from the period after Kwanz's visit to Naples in 1725, when recorder music was also written in Naples.
