Description:
Tomáš Netopil won the first prize at the 1st Sir Georg Solti Conducting Competition held in Frankfurt in 2002. As the next generation of Czech conductors, he continues to attract high expectations. The third installment in Mahler's symphony series with the Essen Philharmonic Orchestra is the large-scale work No. 2 "Resurrection" with solo voice and chorus. Netopil, who has deep ties with the Czech Republic and Mahler's music, uses an extremely orthodox interpretation. He does not set the tempo or dynamics to extremes, but rather focuses on the flow of the music as much as possible, and he does not forget to make the melody sing with richness, such as by utilizing the characteristic violin portamento in the second movement. The first movement is full of power from the beginning, and at the climax of the final chorus, the joy of the resurrection is played in high spirits with the soloists and chorus. The CD is over 83 minutes long, so some players may not be able to play it properly. Please understand this in advance. Naxos Japan
