Description:
The "Hamamatsu Museum of Musical Instruments Collection Series 31" features a grand piano from the museum's collection, a "duo piano" (made by Pleyel in 1925) with an unusual structure: a rectangular body with keys on both sides and two pianists playing facing each other. This type of piano, manufactured in France from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, shared the same soundboard and case, and was characterized by its richly melded and colorful tone. This disc features works for two pianos, the pride of modern French music, performed by the well-known Takuko Ogura and the up-and-coming young pianist Takushi Sato, who transport us to the France of the past with their gorgeous and stylish sound patterns on a single soundboard.
