Rossini (1792-1868)
Description:
A rare Rossini opera by a remarkable female conductor! Kelly-Lynn Wilson is a female conductor from Canada. She studied flute as a student and showed her talent at the age of 16, performing with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Calgary Philharmonic, and later studied flute at the Juilliard School before turning to conducting. After studying flute at the Juilliard School, he turned to conducting. He gained experience as an assistant to Abbado at the Salzburg Conservatory and began his conducting career in 1998. Since then, he has performed with distinguished orchestras in the U.S. and has been active as an opera conductor in Europe, making his debut at the Royal Opera House in the 2018/2019 season with "Carmen" and garnering much attention. This 2018 "Sisemondo" was highly acclaimed, not only for the rarity of the program, but also for Wilson's precise presentation of Rossini's music, which is both nimble and powerful. The high standard of singing by Rossini and his specialty singers is also a pleasure to hear. Naxos Japan
