Description:

Koutaro Fukuma (b. 1982) is a pianist who has performed on five continents. In 2003, at the age of 20, he won the first prize at the Cleveland International Piano Competition (the first Japanese winner) and the Chopin Prize. She has given recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York, Lincoln Center, Wigmore Hall in London, Konzerthaus Berlin, and Salgavo in Paris, and has performed with the Cleveland Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Dresden Philharmonic. He has performed with many renowned orchestras overseas, including the Cleveland Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic, Israel Philharmonic, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Dresden Philharmonic. In Japan, she has appeared in series such as Pianist 100, Toppan Pianists, Piano Etoile, and La Folle Journée au Japon, as well as performing in disaster-stricken areas such as Ishinomaki and Tagajo, and regularly gives charity concerts. 2015 season: Yokohama Sinfonietta, Izumi Sinfonietta Osaka, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National de Santiago, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre National de Bretagne, and more than 10 other orchestras, as well as being invited to La Roque d'Antheron, Lille Piano Festival, Piano au Jacobin Festival, Paris Chopin Festival in France. He has released 10 CDs to date, including the new 2015 CD "Moldau - Singing on Water" and "Mozart/Schumann: Piano Concerto" (DENON); Geneva in December 2014; invited to ice shows in Kanazawa and Kobe in summer 2015; Stephane Lambiel and Yuzuru Hanyu, She has performed with top skaters such as Stéphane Lambiel, Yuzuru Hanyu, and Miki Ando. She has also appeared on TV Asahi's "Tetsuko's Room," NHK FM, and other programs. He was awarded the 34th Chopin Society of Japan Prize. Currently resides in Berlin. (As of January 2016)
