Bruk, Fridrich (1937-)
Description:
Burk was born in Kharkov, Ukraine, in 1937 and now lives in Finland. Although best known as a tango composer, an important part of his work is his 21 symphonies inspired by his Jewish roots and the Karelian mythology of his second home, Finland, where he moved in 1974. Included on this album are three symphonies composed in 2018. This is a trilogy about the persecution of the Jews in the first half of the 20th century, and it uses Burg's signature kaleidoscopic colors, expressive melodies, and dramatic musical language to depict the epic Jewish history that he has experienced himself. Performed by the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra of Latvia, the oldest in the Baltic States, and the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1989. Naxos Japan
