Since 2013, he has released a series of electronica works under the name Gecko, and in recent years has been the leader and melody maker of the up-and-coming piano instrumental band Gecko & Tokage Parade, which has performed at prestigious jazz live houses such as Motion Blue yokohama. Pianist Wataru Sato is also the leader and melody maker of the up-and-coming piano instrumental band Gecko & Tokage Parade, and has completed his second solo piano album. Like his previous album "midnight solitude," this album was produced and recorded entirely at his home. Although the composition is a simple piano solo, the melancholy melodies and tones characteristic of Wataru Sato's work are even more evident in the music of Gecko & Tokage Parade. The technique he learned from Lubomyr Melnyk, the world's fastest minimalist pianist, the sensitivity he has cultivated across classical, jazz, and fusion styles, and the simple but beautiful melodies reminiscent of Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnolds. This is a remarkable work by an up-and-coming pianist who plays a leading role in Japan's post-classical minimalism.
