Tim Thorpe, horn player, was born in 1983. He joined the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2004, and a year later was named principal horn player of the BBC National Orchestra. He is also active as a chamber musician, performing with the London Sinfonietta and the Nash Ensemble. This album features Husop's own arrangements of Schubert's late masterpiece "Swan Song" and Brahms' folk-like song cycle "Gypsy Song" for French horn. Both are lyrical and narrative pieces, and the sound of the French horn perfectly expresses the wide range of emotions in the songs, perfectly conveying the message of love, the pain of parting, and the sense of loss without words.
