Description:

Composer Robert Kahn was born in Mannheim, Germany. Because of his Jewish background, he was banned by the Nazi regime from performing his works in his later years and became a forgotten figure, but recently his works are being performed more often. Although he was almost the same generation as Richard Strauss, his style is moderate and strongly influenced by Brahms, whom he studied under. The three works on this album are full of introspection and boast a high degree of perfection comparable to Brahms' works. The "Three Pieces" are in the style of Schumann, which shows how much Kahn loved the style of this period. The two virtuosos, Thedén and Triendl, play with great expressive power and convey the charm of the works. Naxos Japan
