Description:

Miles Davis's previously unreleased live series of three consecutive releases in 1960, 1964, and 1967, released on Eternal Grooves' Jazz label "Howlin'". Supervisor/Liner: Takao Ogawa Miles and Coltrane's last tour in Zurich, April 8, 1960, with the Miles Davis Quintet. The only performance of If I Were A Bell on this tour! Coltrane offered his independence from the quintet, which had produced many masterpieces and great performances, and this was his last tour in Europe in 1960. Performances in Paris (March 21), Stockholm (March 22), and Copenhagen (March 24) in the early stages of the tour saw the light of day in 2018, but there were still unreleased shows left to be performed. The final leg of the three-week tour, the April 8 show in Zurich, Switzerland, was recorded on this album. On this rare occasion, the band played "If I Were a Bell" from the album "Relaxin" from four years ago.The tempo also begins to speed up, and you can hear Coltrane's performance with even more fervor as Miles takes his solo. It lasts for nearly 17 minutes in fact, keeping the balance just barely. Then there is "So What," which has been performed every time on this tour. The performance is so rich that Miles is said to have played his best solo on the song. Liner notes supervised by Takao Ogawa, from Eternal Grooves' "Howlin'" series.Kongresshaus, Zurich, Switzerland.
