Double Beats
Description:
Doublebeats is a duo ensemble from Berlin. They challenge a wide variety of pieces with their own unique arrangements, making free use of the marimba and sometimes other percussion instruments. They bring out from each piece a fascinating expression that transcends the original. The soft sound of Chopin's technical exercises, which are thought to be impossible to express without the piano, and the free and varied expression of Haydn's lovely variations are, of course, outstanding, but the highlight is the superb technique of Bach's Goltberg Variations. Piazzolla's well-known "History of the Tango" was also done so naturally that it seems as if it was originally written for this orchestration. The album ends with Minoru Miki's marimba spiritual, which incorporates the fantastic sounds of percussion. Double Beats is a percussion duo formed in 2012 by Nie Huang and Lukas Böhm, two musicians currently studying at the Hans Eisler University of Music in Berlin. In 2018, they won the first prize in the duo category at the 19th Osaka International Music In 2018, she won the first prize in the duo category at the 19th Osaka International Music Competition. His repertoire is wide-ranging, and he plays many works on both traditional and modern instruments, from Bach to Piazzolla.
