Measure three dimensions on your application: the shaft outer diameter (this becomes the seal ID), the housing bore inner diameter (this becomes the seal OD), and the housing depth (this becomes the seal width). The size format on this listing is ID × OD × Width in millimeters.
To convert from inches: multiply by 25.4. For example, a shaft of 1.181" × bore of 2.047" × depth of 0.394" equals approximately 30 × 52 × 10mm. Always verify all three dimensions before ordering.
TC designates a double-lip radial shaft seal. The primary lip faces inward to retain oil or grease inside the housing. The secondary lip faces outward to act as a dust excluder, blocking dirt, water, and debris from entering. This two-barrier arrangement generally outperforms single-lip seals in environments with external contamination.
TC-type radial shaft seals are designed for low-pressure dynamic sealing on rotating shafts — typically up to approximately 0.3 bar (4.4 psi) of continuous internal pressure. NBR nitrile rubber is generally resistant to petroleum-based oils, water splash, and mild weather exposure, making these seals suitable for outdoor equipment such as lawn tractors, ATVs, agricultural machinery, and marine outboard lower units. For prolonged saltwater immersion or sustained high-temperature environments above 120°C (248°F), a Viton (FKM) lip seal may be more appropriate.
These seals conform to DIN 3760 / ISO 6194 metric dimensional standards. They fit any smooth, round shaft with the matching ID and a housing bore matching the OD. Compatibility is based on physical dimensions — shaft diameter and bore size — not thread pitch or thread standard. The shaft surface finish should typically be Ra 0.2–0.8 µm for optimal sealing.
