April 17, 2020. The non-electrified section of the Fushinuma Line (Hokkaido Medical University Station to Shintotsukawa Station) had its last day of service. Originally scheduled for May 6, 2020, the last day of service was moved up to April 24 due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection. However, due to the declaration of a state of emergency, all trains were suspended until the last day of service on April 17, as mentioned above. The service was practically discontinued. The observation video in this film was shot on April 16, the day before the last day of service. Departing from Ishikari-Tobetsu Station (now Tobetsu Station) and passing Hokkaido Medical College Station, this is the beginning of the non-electrified section. The Masuge Mountains loom on the left and the Ishikari Plain spreads out on the right. The train runs along the foot of the Masuge Mountains. The Ishikari-Tsukkigata Station-Shintotsukawa Station line was the last line in Hokkaido to have a staggered closure. At Ishikari-Tsukkigata Station, the exchange of trains can be seen. Shortly after departing Ishikari-Tsukkigata Station, a railroad forest appears. Toyogaoka Station, an unexplored station, is located in the middle of the forest that rises up on both sides of the single-track line. The weather had been blue, but by the time the train passed Osokinai Station, a difficult-to-read station, snow began to flicker from time to time. The train continued on, arriving at its final stop, Shintotsukawa Station.Many fans were seen along the train line bidding farewell to the train. The train returns to Ishikari Tobetsu Station, making one round trip per day. The first train is the last train. The special video introduces each station along the discontinued section.
